Simulate Keypress

If you've ever wanted to programatically fire a keboard event then I have just the VI for you. This code makes a call to the Windows API calling a function in user32.dll available in all Windows versions. This function allows you to specify any key on the keyboard. When the VI is run, Windows will think the selected key has been pressed.

Guru has left the building... again

Well, I never imagined that this would happen... well I sorta expected it. In any case I think it is strange...

I am unsubscribed from this list.

I refuse to be treated the way I was treated by the Open G folks and then
turn around and have to listen to the list manager defend them and tell me
not to post as to why I, and probably many others, no longer publicly
contribute to this list, though I previously never named names.

If anyone ever needs support from me, I will freely give it. I can be
reached at this email address.

First of all I don't understand what he means by "treated by the Open G folks", does that mean Jim Kring? Does this mean me? I was the first one to blast him on Info-LabVIEW last year for his personal irrelavent rantings, I mentioned OpenG in my email, am I now one of the OpenG folks he's talking about?

Compact Fieldpoint

Today I participated in a web event from National Instruments. The topic was Compact Fieldpoint. The first time I heard about this was while I was browsing NI's website. It never manged to make it in their 2003 catalog so I never noticed it while I perused the new catalog...

MYSQL

Well I've been trying to find a competing low cost alternative to SQL Server 2000 and I think I have a winner here. MYSQL is an open-source database product that rivals Microsoft's dominance in the database industry. If you're using it for personal use then the cost is free, you just have to abide by the GNU General Public License (GPL). If you want to sell applications that include it then you can purchase a licence that releases you from the GPL at a cost of only $395US. This is an increadable price considering you can have an unlimited number of connections to the server.

All of this was working great with LabVIEW. They have an ODBC driver which you just install and away you go. I've tested the connection with NI's database connectivity toolkit and haven't found any glitches yet.
